About Term Licensing

Term Licensing allows you to use GE Vernova Proficy products for a specified period, providing flexibility to meet your short and long term license requirements. In addition to the existing perpetual licensing model, the term licensing support model ensures you have access to the latest features, updates, and support for the duration of your subscription. Typically, the term license for GE Vernova Proficy products range from 3 to 5 years. Once the term license expires, you must renew the license to continue using the Proficy software.

Term Licensing in Licensing Software

Term licensing model in Licensing software allows you to manage your Proficy software term license subscriptions ensuring that your products remain in operation during the term period. The licensing software provides you with an easy way to check your Proficy software and control your subscription periods.

Benefits of Term Licensing

Term Licensing offers several benefits:
  • Cost-effective: You only pay for the time you need the software.
  • Scalability: You can easily add or reduce licenses as per the operational requirements.
  • Support: You will have continuous access to software updates, maintenance, and technical support during your subscription term.
  • Flexibility: You can renew or adjust the term licenses subscription period, thereby giving you complete control of your Proficy software usage.

License-Specific Information

You can view all relevant license-specific information, including the expiration date and usage details, through the License Client interface. The License Client allows you to:
  • Review active licenses.
  • Check the license expiration date.
  • View license allocations.
  • Update licenses if necessary.

This license-specific information helps you manage your GE Vernova products and ensure that your licenses remain active and renewed before they expire. Ensure that you periodically check license-specific information such as the license expiry date, number of available licenses, number of licenses currently allocated, and any pending renewals. This will enable you to effectively manage license renewal and distribution.

Important:
If you forget to renew your license before it expires, your GE Vernova products may stop functioning. Once the license expires, the License Client will no longer be able to verify the product’s activation, and you may lose access to the software and its functionalities. Additionally, when you log in to your system, a licensing notification dialog will appear, reminding you of the license expiration date.

The licensing notification dialog for expiration will be displayed at the following intervals:
  • 90 days
  • 60 days
  • 30 days
  • 15 days
  • On all the 7 days before expiry.
Remember:
Refer to your respective Proficy product(s) documentation for the expected behavior. Be mindful of the expiry date and renew the licenses in a timely manner.

Dynamic License Renewal

If you dynamically renew your license during runtime (before it expires), launch the License Client, navigate to the Advanced tab, and select Refresh existing licenses on this computer to update the license. If using a Local License Server, launch Local License Server Administration Tool, navigate to the Server Operations tab, and select Refresh Server to update the license on the Local License Server. Ensure to refer your respective Proficy product documentation to determine if a software update or restart is required. This process ensures that your GE Vernova products continue to run seamlessly. Dynamically renewing a license keeps your products functional and extends your subscription without impacting ongoing operations.
