GE Power Conversion and GE Marine will showcase their power and propulsion solutions at this year’s Euronaval 2022 industry exhibition in Paris, October 18-21, 2022, Booth F91.
GE Power Conversion will showcase electrification technologies that are helping the world’s leading navies to energize their missions with very high levels of power-sharing flexibility. Solutions range from full naval-specification, high voltage electric grids for power and propulsion, to cost-effective hybrid electrification options.
Through integrated electrification, energy management, automation and control, power in the ship’s electric grid can simultaneously supply high-energy defense systems and propulsion. Energy-efficient electric architectures also serve as an effective way to integrate new, cleaner, energy sources as they emerge, and host digital technologies to implement more autonomous systems. Ben Salter, Naval Sales Director said: “As power demands on vessels are set to keep increasing, more customers are asking us how they can help to future-proof their ships for higher energy needs, including a roadmap to reduce emissions”.
GE Power Conversion brings capability from having extensive electric and hybrid naval ship system references, leading in applications from the largest, complex warships to the latest support ships. Ben Salter continued: “We bring specialist naval engineering expertise for the most demanding specifications, but with a commercial marine approach. That means electric architectures are practical across the fleet. We also have more customers interested in the flexibility of more modular platform configurations and the ability to ‘plug in’ to an electric power network”.
GE Marine, a division of GE Aerospace, is the world’s leading manufacturer of aeroderivative marine gas turbines ranging from 4.5 to 52.7 megawatts (MW). Currently, more than 1,400 GE gas turbines serve 39 navies globally on more than 600 of the world’s most sophisticated naval surface combatants.
The LM2500 family of gas turbines are a preferred engine choice because of their best-in-class power density and reliability. Coupled with their ease of maintenance and interoperability with other Navies, this engine family was the preference for the world’s newest naval programs: US Navy Constellation Class Frigate, Spanish Navy F110 Class Frigate, and Finnish Navy Pohjanmaa Class Corvettes. Additionally, GE is proud to continue to support the Italian Navy’s FREMM Frigate and the South Korean Navy’s KDX III Destroyer programs.
GE Marine representatives will display gas turbine features and benefits, as well as the total lifecycle cost advantages at Euronaval.
