Location Information
About Location Information
You can configure the time zone and the location for a specific business functional object.
Use Location to map and find non-portable business functional objects. Mapping non-portable business functional objects allows you to use GPS for service calls.
An object in the business functional hierarchy may refer to an enterprise, site, segment (a specific grouping like a plant or a block in a plant), or a specific asset or child-asset. You can select a time zone and geolocation for an instance anywhere in the hierarchy. Configuring a time zone and location allows you to provide time stamps for the data supplied from the asset sensors and calculations. This information is used throughout GE Digital APM.
You can specify a geological location for an object in the business functional hierarchy using latitude, longitude, and altitude. You can also define a region using two or more defined points.
Location information can be accessed from the Location Information link on an instance view.
Assign a Time Zone for an Instance
You can select a time zone for a business functional object instance.
About This Task
Each UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) time zone selection describes a geographical region where the same standard time is observed. Selecting a time zone for an instance allows you to designate how the time stamp for each instance appears throughout GE Digital APM. Selected time zones observe Daylight Savings and are automatically adjusted to observe local time.
Procedure
Add a Geolocation for an Instance
You can add multiple ordered geolocations for an instance.
About This Task
The geolocation table allows you to either map a defined point where the business functional object is located, or map a series of defined points that indicate a region where the business functional object is located. To map a region, you must define two or more locations. This allows you to find the selected physical object using GPS.
- Order
- Name
- Latitude
- Longitude
- Altitude
The location specific attributes for an instance are displayed in the Geolocation table in the Location section.
Procedure
Modify a Geolocation for an Instance
