Groups Overview
About Groups
Groups are a collection of assets or tags of the same type.
Groups are logical structures that hold instances of the same object type, and are associated to parent nodes in the business functional hierarchy.
For example, a group of asset instances cannot contain any tag instances. The group of asset instances can be associated with a segment. site, or asset instance node that is higher in the business functional hierarchy.
You can add Groups for classifications and add custom attributes for the group.
You can use Groups to locate assets or tags by the type of data provided. For instance, you can access a group of tags by function.

GE Digital APM Groups allows you to add, search, select and configure a specific group.
The Groups table lists the first 250 groups. Use the scroll bar to access additional groups.
Each specific group includes custom attributes and the objects in the group. You can add or modify custom attributes for the group. You can jump to the relevant asset or tag instance and the associated classification using links in the Objects in Group table. Objects in the group cannot be added in the user interface. For more information, refer to the related links for API and ingestion information.

When you enter search criteria, the first 250 matching entries for any column in the Groups table display in the Search Results. Use modifiers to construct queries, narrowing your search.
Search results display using a combination of search filters and on the selection of the group type selected from the drop-down list. The following columns are displayed in the Groups table:- Group Name
- Source Key
- Group Type
- Description
Use three or more characters in your search text to avoid time-outs. You can use multiple modifiers when searching. When you perform the search with multiple query options or fewer search characters, your search scope is widened, leading to slower result retrieval.
