Overview
Overview of the Asset Criticality Analysis (ACA) Module
Asset Criticality Analysis (ACA) is a tool that you can use to define the criticality of a system and the individual locations and pieces of equipment that make up that system. The ACA interface lets you define the probability and consequences of the failure events that may occur for a system, which helps you determine which of your systems, locations, and pieces of equipment have the highest risk of failure in your facility. In other words, using an ACA, you can determine which of your systems, locations, and pieces of equipment are critical.
After you have determined which of your systems, locations, and pieces of equipment are critical, you can use GE Digital APM modules to further analyze and safeguard those systems, locations, and pieces of equipment. For example, through an ACA, you might discover that if Equipment A were to fail, it could cause a catastrophic event in your facility, leading to personal injury. In this case, Equipment A is considered critical, and you may want to use the Asset Strategy Management (ASM) module to develop a strategy for optimizing the performance of Equipment A.
Using ACA, you can:
- Define the systems, locations, and pieces of equipment whose criticality you want to assess.
- Evaluate the criticality of those systems, locations, and pieces of equipment by defining the consequences and probability of the events that may occur.
- Determine if further analysis and tracking is necessary, based on the risks that the systems, locations, and pieces of equipment present.
- Apply ACA groups to modules in the Asset Strategy work process to develop a plan for mitigating the risk of the system and its associated locations and pieces of equipment.
ACA leverages the standard GE Digital APM risk matrix that you can use to assess the criticality of your systems, locations, and pieces of equipment. After you have identified the criticality of your systems, locations, and pieces of equipment, you can determine which ones require further safeguarding, analysis, and tracking using GE Digital APM modules.

About this task
This topic describes how to access the ACA Overview page, on which you can view all the information and perform various tasks related to Asset Criticality Analysis of various Hierarchy Levels. If you want to view ACAs associated with a particular Hierarchy Level, you can access the ACA Overview page for a Hierarchy Level.
You can perform various tasks on this page based on your membership in various Security Groups.
Procedure
By default, the hierarchy level is set to home. You can filter the hierarchy level by selecting in the upper-left corner of the page. By default, the ACA information on the page is related to an Asset.
