Upload Data
About Uploading Data from a Windows Mobile Device to GE Digital APM
When you upload data from a Windows Mobile Device to GE Digital APM, data that was saved to the Windows Mobile Device is transferred to GE Digital APM as records. For example, when you upload a recommendation, an Operator Rounds Recommendation record will be created automatically in GE Digital APM.
The status of a Route determines whether or not data for the Route will be uploaded to GE Digital APM. Specifically:
- Data for Routes that have a status of Finished will be uploaded to GE Digital APM and removed from the Windows Mobile Device.
- Data for Routes that have a status of In Progress will not be uploaded to GE Digital APM and will remain on the Windows Mobile Device.
After you upload data for a Route to GE Digital APM, a Route History record will also be created and linked to the Route record.
Uploading Data from a Windows Mobile Device after a Sync Server Upgrade
Performing a synchronization operation on the Windows Mobile Device after the GE Digital APM Sync Server has been upgraded to a new version will initiate an upgrade of the components that are installed on the Windows Mobile Device. In this case, after any updated data has been transferred to the server, a message in the synchronization log will indicate that the server has been updated and that an update of the handheld components needs to be performed. The update will begin automatically.
During the update, messages will appear indicating that the GE Digital APM components are already installed and that they need to be reinstalled. You must select Yes in response to these messages. One message will appear for each component that is installed (i.e., GE Digital APM, Operator Rounds, and the Barcode or RFID add-ons, and any language packs).
After the new versions of the GE Digital APM components have been installed, you will need to reconfigure your settings on the following screens the Windows Mobile Device:
- Windows Mobile Device Settings screen
- Specify Download Settings screen
