Add a Hypothesis to a Logic Tree

Hypothesis nodes are always on the third level of the tree or later, attached either to a Failure Mode node or another Hypothesis node. After you have created the Failure Event node and the Failure Mode nodes, you can add Hypothesis nodes to the Failure Mode nodes and Hypothesis nodes as needed to help the team determine the cause of the event.

This topic describes how to create a Hypothesis on the design canvas. You can also import an existing Hypothesis, copy a Hypothesis, or add a Hypothesis node from the Hypothesis list.

Steps

  1. Access the Logic Tree diagram to which you want to add a Hypothesis.
  2. In the upper portion of the workspace, in the Palette section, select RCA Hypothesis Icon.
  3. Use the drag-and-drop method to add the Hypothesis to the Failure Event node or to another Hypothesis on the design canvas.

A new Hypothesis is added and the Properties window appears, displaying the datasheet for the selected Hypothesis.

  4. As needed, enter values in the available fields.
  5. Select .

The Hypothesis appears in the Logic Tree diagram.
