Applying Proficy Licenses using Tag Pooling from a Local Server
The tag pooling feature enables you to allocate, distribute, or return additional tags (database blocks) from a local license server, streamlining SCADA system management. Currently, this feature is available for SCADA iFIX and CIMPLICITY product software licenses, providing flexibility for local servers.
Before you begin
- Ensure Proficy Common Licensing version 21.2 or later is installed.
- Verify the Local Server URL and port are configured.
Procedure
-
Launch the Local License Server Administration Tool and
select the Licenses tab.
The Licenses Activated On Server page appears.
-
Select Add Licenses and enter the 16-digit alphanumeric
activation code from your GE Vernova order email (Example:
PROFICYSCADA-POOL Add On).
Note:Ensure the base Proficy product license is activated before applying the tag pooling code.
-
Enter the required number of license tags in the input box.
Example: To allocate 10,000 tags, enter 10 (each unit represents 1000 tags).
- Select Add Code, and select Activate to add the Proficy license(s) to the local server.
- Launch the License Client, select the Activate License tab, and select Yes for activation from a local server.
-
Check the box next to the pooling product name, enter the number of license tags to
add, and select Activate.
You will be redirected to the View Licenses tab.
- In the View Licenses tab, verify the Proficy product license(s). Select SCADA Tag Pool to view the license details.
-
If you want to return unused SCADA Tag Pool licenses, select the Return
License tab, check the box next to the pooling product name, and enter
the number of tags you want to return in the Remove input box,
and then click Return to return the licenses.
Note:The Remove input box for the base Proficy software license is disabled, as the default count value is set to 1 (conventional method).
