################################################################################ ##### iNet Firmware Upgrade Notes ##### ################################################################################ Software Upgrade via TFTP: - Copy the file inet-x_x_x.ipk into a known directory (for example c:\windows\temp\) where x_x_x corresponds to the actual filename and version number that you will be downloading. - Launch a TFTP server on a PC which has network connectivity to the iNet radio. The network connectivity may be provided by connecting the PC and the iNet radio via an ethernet crossover cable, a hub, or over the air through another iNet radio. - Obtain and document the TFTP server's IP address (For example 192.168.1.2). - Point the TFTP server to the directory from which you desire to upload the new software. In the SNMPc TFTP server, you should execute the "set root" command and point to the known directory where inet-x_x_x.ipk has been copied. (For example set root to c:\windows\temp\) - Use the Com1 console menu, Telnet, or HTTP interface to view the reprogramming parameters on the Maintenance | Reprogramming screen. Configure the TFTP Host Address to the IP address of your TFTP server. Set the the Filename to inet-x_x_x.ipk where the x_x_x corresponds to the actual filename and version number that you will be downloading. If reprogramming over the the air you may need to set the TFTP Timeout to a value greater than 10 seconds. - Command the iNet to Retrieve File to start the reprogramming process. - The console and Telnet menu will display the progress of the reprogram. - The TFTP Server and radio will notify you when the programming is complete. - The Current Firmware parameters will reflect the version number of the new firmware. - Reboot the software by using Reboot Device and selecting the image number that is not currently active. - If desired, upon testing of the new firmware, reprogram the other image by repeating the TFTP process or by using the Image Copy in the Maintenance | Reprogramming screen. 04/03/2002 CDT
