Decommission an Asset Instance
You can decommission an asset instance in the business functional hierarchy.
About This Task
Decommissioning an asset instance also decommissions all its child asset instances and it associated tags. Once decommissioned, The asset instance is removed from the business functional hierarchy for users that do not have the View decommissioned assets option applied. The ingestor user and user admin can also view the decommissioned asset. You cannot make any changes to the asset instance, any child instances, or associated tag intances.
You can access decommissioned assets if you have the All resources permission.
Only a root asset instance can be decommissioned. Child asset instances cannot be separately decommissioned.
- The selected asset instance is a member of a group. You must remove the asset instance from the group before you can proceed.
- The selected asset instance includes a tag that is a member of a group. You must remove the tag from the group before you can proceed.
- The selected asset instance is a member of a group which is associated with a business functional hierarchy. You must disassociate the group from the business functional hierarchy before you can proceed.
- You do not have permissions to view or edit the selected asset instance.
Procedure
Recommission an Asset Instance
You can recommission an asset instance that has been decommissioned in the Lifecycle stage drop-down list box.
About This Task
Recommissioning an asset instance also recommissions all its child asset instances and its associated tags. The child asset instances and associated tags Lifecycle stage option is reset to match the selection for the recommissioned asset instance. If the Lifecyle stage option for any child assets instances or associated tags is different from the recommissioned asset instance selection, you will need to manually adjust them.
