Add or Modify Reserved Attribute Values for a Classification

You can enter or modify reserved attribute values for an asset or tag classification.

About This Task

Reserved attributes are system defined attributes. These attributes only appear for asset or tag classifications. You can enter a new value or modify an existing value for a reserved attribute. You can add new values or modify existing values for a reserved attribute that contains . Reserved attributes have predefined formatting which cannot be modified. You cannot add or delete a reserved attribute, or modify the name of the reserved attribute.

GE Digital APM Asset has identified a list of reserved attributes for Asset and Tag classifications. To ensure that you do not add custom attributes from the reserved attributes list, the following tables list the reserved attributes used for Asset and Tag Classifications:

Procedure

  • To enter or modify a single value for a reserved attribute:
    1. In the module navigation menu, go to Assets > Classifications.
    2. Find and select an Asset Classification or Tag Classification in the Classification results table.
      Tip: You must use the fieldName to search.
    3. In the Reserved Attributes section, hover over a reserved attribute value, and select the Value box to enter a value. The value must match the data type for the attribute. A hint may appear if you enter a value incorrectly.
      Alternatively, you can hover over a reserved attribute value and select , then enter a value in the Attribute Value Definition box.
      Note: You cannot change the datatype of the attribute.
    4. Select Save.
      The entered value is saved and appears in the Value column for the selected reserved attribute.
  • To add and enter or modify multiple values for a reserved attribute:
    1. In the Reserved Attributes section, hover over a reserved attribute value, and select .
    2. Enter a value in the Attribute Value Definition box. The value must match the data type for the attribute. A hint may appear if you enter a value incorrectly.
    3. Select .
    4. Enter an additional value in the new Attribute Value Definition box.
    5. Continue selecting and entering values as needed.
    6. Select Save.
      The entered values are saved and populate the drop-down list box in the Value column for the selected reserved attribute.

Remove Values from Reserved Attributes for a Classification

You can remove values from a reserved attribute for an asset or tag classification.

About This Task

Reserved attributes only appear for asset or tag classifications. You can remove an existing value for a reserved attribute. You can remove multiple existing values for a reserved attribute that contains . Reserved attributes have predefined formatting that cannot be modified. You cannot add or delete a reserved attribute.

Procedure

  • To remove an existing value for a reserved attribute:
    1. In the module navigation menu, go to Assets > Classifications.
    2. Find and select an Asset Classification or Tag Classification in the Classification results table.
      Tip: You must use the fieldName to search.
    3. In the Reserved Attributes section, hover over a reserved attribute value, and select the Value box to delete a value.
      Alternatively, you can hover over a reserved attribute value and select , then select and delete a value in the Attribute Value Definition box.
    4. Select Save.
      The null value is saved and appears as blank in the Value column for the selected reserved attribute.
  • To remove multiple existing values for a reserved attribute:
    1. In the Reserved Attributes section, hover over a reserved attribute value, and select .
    2. Select the X next to an existing Attribute Value Definition box to delete it. Select and delete the last value from the Attribute Value Definition box if needed.
    3. Select Save.
      The values are removed from the drop-down list box in the Value column for the selected reserved attribute.
