GE's medium and large hydro generators are designed for run-of-river and high head hydropower plants.

Our knowledge and experience in Hydropower allows our GE team to match customers with the best technology for their site. We provide:

• Low-speed machines ideal for run-of-river plants in connection with Bulb or Kaplan turbines; and
• High-speed machines used with Francis and Pelton turbines for high head hydro power

All of our medium and large hydro generators (> 50 MVA) are engineered to reduce thermo-mechanical stress on the generator structure, which contributes to improved reliability and extended lifetime.  Additionally, our generators come with a stator core pressing system to ensure that pressing force is provided precisely where it is needed: in the core. 

A closed loop air ventilation circuit is standard with our medium and large machines and, when necessary for the site conditions and generator configuration, we offer state-of-the-art cooling systems.
