SIS Trip Reports

About SIS Trip Report

SIS Trip Reports are records that store details on events, which occurred on a safety instrumented system, such as a trip alarm. For example, if during a process, the gas pressure level increased to an unmanageable level and the safety instrumented system turned off the gas feed, you would create one SIS Trip Report to record the details of that trip alarm event.

When you create an SIS Trip Report, you will link it to a Logic Solver. When you create an SIS Trip Report Detail, you will select an Instrumented Function from among the ones that are linked to the Logic Solver. APM creates an SIS Trip Report Detail for each Instrumented Function that you have selected.

SIS Trip Report Details store details of the Instrumented Function with which it is associated. They also contain the decision that is made around the particular trip event, which is stored in the Action box. For example, you can specify a trip event as Dangerous or Safe.

Access an SIS Trip Report

Procedure

  1. Access the SIS Management Overview page.
  2. In the workspace, select the SIS Trip Reports tab.

The SIS Trip Reports section appears, displaying a list of SIS Trip Reports.

  3. Select the SIS Trip Report that you want to access.
Tip: You can also filter and search for the piece of test equipment by selecting in the upper-left corner of the workspace. The search results appear as you enter values.

The datasheet for the SIS Trip Report appears.

  4. If needed, modify values in the available fields.
  5. In the upper-right corner of the datasheet, select .

The changes made to the SIS Trip Report are saved.

What To Do Next

Create an SIS Trip Report Detail

Before You Begin

Procedure

  1. Access the SIS Trip Report for which you want to create an SIS Trip Report Detail.
  2. In the workspace, select the Trip Report Details tab.

The SIS Trip Report Details section appears.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the section, select Add Trip Details.

The Trip Details window appears, displaying a list of Instrumented Functions. These are the Instrumented Functions that are linked to the Logic Solver whose ID is populated in the Logic Solver ID field in the SIS Trip Report datasheet.

  4. Select the check box that corresponds to the Instrumented Function for which you want to create an SIS Trip Report Detail.
  5. In the lower-right corner of the window, select Add.

The SIS Trip Report Detail is created.

  6. Select the SIS Trip Report Detail, and in the datasheet that appears, modify the details as needed, and select Save.

The SIS Trip Report Detail is saved.
