RBI Recommendation Management

This workflow describes the process of reviewing the recommendations that are generated by GE Digital APM, creating recommendations manually, and superseding, consolidating, or promoting these recommendations to Asset Strategy Management.

Persona: Analyst

Review the generated Recommendations for applicability, effectiveness, and practicality. If you disagree with the recommendations, you must update them in the associated damage mechanism to mitigate the risk.

If you think that implementing the generated recommendation will not mitigate the risk, update the recommendation with details on how to improvise it so that the risk is mitigated to below the risk threshold values.

Verify if there is a damage mechanism for which the risk is not mitigated to below the risk threshold values. This can happen when the damage mechanism does not have an agreed-upon inspection strategy defined. In such cases, the damage mechanism is identified as unmitigated.

Assess the mitigated risk of the damage mechanisms for which the risk is not mitigated to below the risk threshold values.

For DMs whose recommendations are not created by the Inspection Strategies, if further risk mitigation is needed, then manually create appropriate recommendations. The risk mitigation can be based on several factors that include (but are not limited to):

• Collective experience of the team
• Statutory compliance
• Industry standards

The result of this part of the workflow is an inspection strategy for each RBI Component that mitigates the assessed risks of the damage mechanisms. The resultant inspection strategy includes recommendations that must be implemented to mitigate the risk.

Assess the mitigated risk of the proposed recommendations for each damage mechanism. After the recommendations are promoted to Asset Strategy Management (ASM), these risk assessments are used to create Actions.

If a recommendation becomes invalid or redundant because of implementing another recommendation, you must supersede it. For example, if a recommendation suggests that you perform an annual calibration of a piece of equipment, and if another recommendation suggests that you perform a quarterly calibration of the same piece of equipment, then you can supersede the former.

You can consolidate two or more recommendations if they:

• Recommend a similar activity

  -and-

• Are related to the same damage mechanism

For example, recommendations may be consolidated if they include similar activities being recommended for similar damage mechanisms for different RBI Components of the same asset. One of those recommendations (usually the more aggressive one) can be used as the driving recommendation for the whole asset.

As a result of the reconciliation process, recommendations that are:

• Superseded
• Consolidated

...stay in the system for auditing purposes. Promote the others to Asset Strategy Management (by promoting the analysis) to review and propose a strategy.

After you promote an analysis to Asset Strategy Management, the recommendations linked to the analysis are converted into actions. The damage mechanisms are converted into risks.
