When you add a source to the design canvas, the steps that you follow depend on whether you are adding the first source to a new, blank query, or if you are linking a related source to an existing source on the design canvas.
Note: If the design canvas is populated with one or more sources, any source you add must be linked to an existing source via a relationship family or manual join.
Depending on the type of query source that you want to use, on the Select a Family or Query window, select one of the following tabs:
Queries: Displays the list of Catalog folders to which you have at least View privileges.
Note: If all sources have been removed from the Design workspace, in the page heading, select Add Source to open the Select a Family or Query window.
In the Families section, in the list, select an entity family.
-or-
In the Queries section, navigate through the folder hierarchy and select a query.
Note: You can also select
Select Add.
The Select a Family or Query window closes, and your selected query source appears as a node on the design canvas.
On the design canvas, select the source to which you want to add a related source.
Select the plus symbol, and then drag the pointer to another location on the design canvas.
A blank node appears, and, in the direction that you drag the pointer, a line connecting the two nodes is drawn automatically.
In the location where you want to place the related source, release the pointer.
The
window appears.
In the
section, select the desired entity family and relationship family combination.-or-
In the Add Manual Join section, populate the fields according to the following steps:
If you selected Family, then in the Table box, select an entity family.
-or-
If you selected Query, to the right of the Table box, select .
Select the query, and then select Open.
The Select a query from the catalog window closes, and the Table box is populated with the query folder path.
Select Add.
The design canvas appears, and the new source node is populated with the selected source. The line connecting the two nodes changes to represent one of the following types of relationships.
