Specify the Primary Node in a Policy Model

If a policy contains an Input node that represents a primary record, you can specify that node as the primary node in a policy model. Doing so will streamline the process of creating policy instances.

Before You Begin

• Build a policy model.

• Note the following limitations that apply to primary nodes:

  • You can specify only one primary node in a policy.
  • Any Input node except for a Constant, Query, or Point Value node can be specified as the primary node.

Steps

1. Access the policy for which you want to specify a primary node.

2. In the Design workspace, select the Input node that you want to specify as the primary node.

   The Properties window for the Input node appears.

3. On the Properties window, select the Primary Record check box.

   A blue star appears on the upper-left corner of the node in the policy model, indicating that the node is the primary node in the policy.

   

   1. In the Policy section of the toolbar, select .

      The policy is saved.

Results

• When you create a policy instance, the record that you assign to the primary node will be the primary record for that instance.
