Migrate from Generation Management (GM) to Generation Availability Analysis (GAA)

The following table outlines the steps that you must complete to migrate to this module. These instructions assume that you have completed the steps for upgrading the basic GE Digital APM system architecture.

Using the file Meridium.DbUtility.GAAUpgradeUtility.exe stored in the installation folder (e.g., C:\Program Files\Meridium\Upgrade), set the following information:

  • User ID in the userId field.
  • Password in the password field.
  • Database name in the datasourceId field.
  • Regulatory organization (NERC, CEA) in the fuelReportingOrganization field.
This step is required.

In the Generation Company family:

  • In the Enterprise 1 Code (MI_GMCOMPNY_ERP_01_CD_C) field, enter the Asset ID.

    Note: The Asset ID is the Entity ID of the functional location.

  • In the Enterprise 1 Description (MI_GMCOMPNY_ERP_01_DESC_C) field, for the Primary Regulatory Organization, enter the value NERC or CEA.

    Note: If the Primary Regulatory Organization information has not been set, an exception error will occur.

  • In the Enterprise 3 Code (MI_GMCOMPNY_ERP_03_CD_C) field, enter the Country ID.

    Note: In GE Digital APM V4.3.0.0.0, the Country field is required.

This step is required.

The GAA Company will receive the site key from the associated functional location.

In the Generation Plant family:

  • In the Enterprise 1 Code (MI_GM_PLANT_ERP_01_CD_C) field, enter the Asset ID.

    Note: The Asset ID is the Entity ID of the functional location.

  • In the Enterprise 1 Description (MI_GM_PLANT_ERP_01_DESC_C) field, for the Primary Regulatory Organization, enter the value NERC or CEA.

    Note: If the Primary Regulatory Organization information has not been set, an exception error will occur.

  • In the Enterprise 4 Code (MI_GM_PLANT_ERP_04_CD_C) field, enter the time zone for the Plant.

    Note: If the time zone information is invalid, an exception error will occur.

This step is required.

The GAA Plant will receive the site key from the associated functional location.

In the Generation Unit family:

  • In the Enterprise 1 Code (MI_GM_UNIT0_ERP_01_CD_C) field, enter the Asset ID.

    Note: The Asset ID is the Entity ID of the functional location.

  • In the Enterprise 1 Description (MI_GM_UNIT0_ERP_01_DESC_C) field, for the Primary Regulatory Organization, enter the value NERC or CEA.

    Note: If the Primary Regulatory Organization information has not been set, an exception error will occur.

This step is required.

The GAA Unit will receive the site key from the associated functional location.

The Primary Event and the Contributing Event will receive the site key from the GAA Unit.

The values in the Generation Unit records will be mapped to the corresponding fields in Unit Capacity records as shown in the following table:

By default, the Unit Capacity record will be created for all the units with the value in Start Date field set to 01/01/1900 and the value in End Date field set to null.

IMPORTANT: R server must be configured and running before you run the GAAUpgradeUtility.exe.

Run the file GAAUpgradeUtility.exe.

During the upgrade:

After you complete this step, a log file is generated containing detailed information about the upgrade process.
