About Scan Groups

You may want to assign the same barcode or RFID tag to multiple Measurement Location records that are defined sequentially in a Route. This is considered a scan group. A scan group consists of one or more, sequential checkpoints whose Measurement Location records contain the same scan ID. If a Route includes a scan group, when you scan the barcode or RFID tag for that scan group, the first checkpoint in the group will appear.

The Measurement Location node that is shaded white in the preceding image have the same scan ID in their Scan ID fields: 10059.

On the device, when you scan the barcode or RFID tag 10059, the checkpoint whose Measurement Location record has the sequence value 03, will be displayed automatically because it is defined first in the scan group.

If you select Next on this reading, the next checkpoint will be displayed, and so on until you reach the end of the scan group. When you do, a message will appear, indicating that you have reached the end of the scan group and prompting you to scan another barcode or RFID tag. Likewise, if you are viewing the first checkpoint within the scan group, and you tap Prev, a message will appear, indicating that you have reached the end of the scan group and prompting you to scan another barcode or RFID tag.

Note: Because a scan group can consist of a single Measurement Location record, the device will treat a single Measurement Location record (with a scan ID) in the same way it treats a scan group that consists of multiple Measurement Location records.
