Description
This error occurs in the Database Manager when you try to add a block that references the OPC driver. The OPC Client driver and SCU are installed and configured but you cannot create database blocks for the OPC Client driver.
Resolution
To resolve this error, you need to make sure the Default Path and File fields on the Default Path tab of the Setup dialog box in the Power Tool are configured.
If you have already created a complete configuration, resave it as a file name other than nodename.opc (e.g., rename it to Test.opc) in its current directory.
To configure the Default Path and File fields:
- Open the Power Tool and stop the driver if it is running.
- From the Option menu, choose Setup. The Setup dialog box opens.
- Click the Default Path tab.
- Change the Default configuration file name to .opc.
- Change the Default path for configuration file. It should be the path where your PDB is located. The default location this would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\PDB
- Save and restart the Power Tool, then restart the OPC driver.
- From the File menu, choose Open and select the Test.opc configuration (the backup of the original you created earlier), and Save As .opc.
- Shutdown iFIX and restart the Power Tool and iFIX.
You can now access the OPC Driver Image Table from the process database and create database blocks that reference the Items in the OPC Client.
