Monitoring high voltage transformer

Which transformers require data monitoring surveillance?

Non-redundant transformers

Your transformer is essential, unique, and non-redundant. In the absence of a backup solution, its continuous monitoring becomes strategic.

Transformers exhibiting a fault

In the event of confirmed internal phenomena such as partial discharges and hot spots, it is necessary to strengthen the monitoring of your transformer.

Recently repaired transformers

After major maintenance (rewinding or fluid replacement), closely monitoring the transformer is recommended to ensure optimal restoration.

Aging high-voltage transformers

Careful monitoring is essential for your high-voltage transformer that is over 20 years old and helps ensure appropriate maintenance to extend its lifespan.

Learn more about our data monitoring surveillance service:

What parameters are collected and monitored on my transformer?

open icon

The collected and monitored parameters are adjusted based on the transformer's condition. Monitoring data surveillance allows for control of several parameters such as dissolved gases, moisture content, temperature, current, etc. Gas monitoring varies depending on the chosen monitoring system, with some allowing simultaneous analysis of multiple gases (H2: Hydrogen - CH4: Methane - C2H2: Acetylene - C2H4: Ethylene - C2H6: Ethane - CO: Carbon monoxide - CO2: Carbon dioxide - O2: Oxygen - N2: Nitrogen - H2O: Water).

What are the costs associated with your surveillance service? Are there any additional fees?

open icon

The surveillance service is remunerated through a minimum annual subscription. Its amount depends on the surveillance frequency, the number of managed alerts, and the number of monitored parameters.

Several subscriptions are thus possible depending on the criticality of the transformer.

There may be additional fees such as communication fees with your operator, or fees for additional investigative laboratory analyses.

Who will be responsible for monitoring my transformer?

open icon

The Laboratory OKSMAN SERAPHIN has a team of diagnosticians specialized in data monitoring surveillance. The team enriches a knowledge base for each monitored device, allowing for the adaptation of transformer surveillance dynamics based on its evolving condition or operational outlook. It anticipates the risk of serious fault developments and proactively contacts you as alarm thresholds approach to jointly establish the best solution to implement.

The workforce ensures service continuity during default laboratory hours. Specific on-call solutions can be implemented if necessary.

Is there any benefit to monitoring the aging of cellulose insulation?

open icon

The main advantage of monitoring solutions is to enable the monitoring of rapid phenomena that can occur within the device, sometimes in just a few hours. It is therefore a particularly effective tool for detecting electrical or thermal faults at high temperatures.

The tracers currently monitored to assess the condition of papers (such as humidity) are not exclusive to aging and may be biased by other external or internal phenomena. In addition, the aging of cellulose insulation is a slow process that takes place over decades. The benefit of monitoring solutions in this regard is low. Thus, laboratory analysis with markers exclusive to papers, and at an appropriate frequency, currently constitutes the most effective solution for estimating the residual life of the device.
