Link a Protective Instrument Loop Sensor

IMPORTANT: If you modify a Protective Instrument Loop Element that is linked to more than one loop, the changes that you have made are reflected in all the associated loops.

Note: Linking a Protective Instrument Loop Sensor alters the calculations for the loop. Therefore, you must verify the calculations again.

Before You Begin

• Create a Protective Instrument Loop.

Steps

1. Access the Protective Instrument Loop Sensor to which you want to link another Sensor.

2. In the upper-right corner of the datasheet, select Link.

   The Search window appears.

   

3. In the upper-right corner of the window, select .

   A list of Protective Instrument Loop Sensors appears.

   

4. Select the check box that corresponds to the Sensor that you want to link, and then select OK.

5. Depending on the message that appears, select Proceed or OK.

   If the Protective Instrument Loop Sensor that you want to replace is also linked to another loop, select Proceed.

   Note: If you want to access the list of Protective Instrument Loops linked to the Protective Instrument Loop Sensor that you want to replace, select Show Details.

   -or-

   If the Protective Instrument Loop Sensor that you want to replace is not linked to any other loop, a message appears, indicating that the Protective Instrument Loop Sensor will be deleted. Select OK.

   The original Protective Instrument Loop Sensor is replaced by the one that you have selected.

Results

• The existing Protective Instrument Loop Sensor is replaced by the one that you have linked. If the existing Sensor is not a part of another loop, then the record is deleted. Otherwise, the record is just unlinked from the loop.
• Linking a record alters the calculations for the loop. The GE Digital APM system performs the calculations again.
