Security permissions for the Public folder and its subfolders determine who has the ability to view and modify those folders and their contents. The grid within the Permissions section shows which Security Users and Security Groups already have permissions to a given Public folder.
All members of the Everyone Security Group have View permissions for the //Public/Meridium folder and its subfolders.
Super Users, members of the MI Catalog Administrator Security Group, or Members of the MI Power User Role Security Group have full permissions to Public folders.
Public folder permissions can be set at any level and, optionally, spread to the subfolders that exist within that folder using the Spread function. Permissions that have been spread from a higher-level folder will not appear in the grid in the Permissions section when you access the Catalog Folder Properties window from a subfolder.
Besides the automatic Public folder permissions, all other Public Catalog folder permissions must be granted explicitly to Security Users and Security Groups. The following list explains the available permissions:
Create: Allows a Security User or Security Group create items in the folder.
Own: Allows a Security User or Security Group modify only the items they own.
Permissions can be modified in the Permissions section on the Catalog Folder Properties window. For each permission type, the Spread check box is available. Selecting this check box will cause the selected permissions to be inherited by all subfolders of the current folder.
