ElectraLink Enables Innovation by Increasing Data Access with Utilihive

ElectraLink provides network communications and code governance services for the UK gas and electricity markets. Its Data Transfer Service (DTS) serves as a national data hub for all energy market participants in the UK. Through the DTS, ElectraLink has access to vast quantities of data. They realized this was an untapped and under-utilized resource. Properly harnessed, this data could prove a catalyst for innovation, helping utilities acquire and capitalize on key insights, reduce operational costs, and create new services for their customers.

ElectraLink chose to pilot Utilihive for innovation. Utilihive integrated all relevant information received from participants in the UK energy market. This gave ElectraLink a “total process view” of data, presenting it through the solution’s role-based dashboard. The dashboard used its configurable smart visualizations to present insights to operators. Information that had been available all along suddenly became more actionable, thanks to Utilihive's ability to present it in a simple and intuitive format.

Utilihive enabled ElectraLink to use the extensive, rich utility data it had been collecting for many years. By integrating that disparate data for easier analysis, ElectraLink achieved visibility of the entire UK energy market. The new insights ElectraLink gained helped its utility customers identify new opportunities to optimize grid operations and create new revenue streams for their businesses.
