Company history
GE Vernova realized nuclear energy’s potential in the 1950s, when its first boiling water reactor (BWR) went online in Vallecitos, California (USA). Forty years—and numerous design refinements—later, GE Vernova and Hitachi collaborated on the Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR). Four Japanese ABWR plants have operated successfully for years. The ABWR’s success prompted GE Vernova and Hitachi to form an alliance in the early 2000s.
GEH's latest design—the BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR)—employs a successfully licensed fuel configuration, advanced concrete solutions, and innovative construction techniques that allow it to be affordably constructed and operating in less time than other designs.
GEH is a world-leading provider of advanced reactors, fuel, and nuclear services.
