Variable inlet guide vanes
Full range of VIGV benefits
- The VIGV assembly is mounted to the front of the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) and consists of 43 stationary leading-edge vanes and 43 variable trailing-edge flaps.
- Twin hydraulic actuators with Linear Variable Differential Transducers (LVDT) are mounted on the on the actuator ring.
- VIGV position is controlled by continuous measurement of LPC inlet temperature and High-Pressure Compressor (HPC) discharge pressure.
- If the turbine has Fixed Inlet Guide Vanes (FIGV), the upgrade involves adding the VIGV module, a new Hydraulic Control Unit (if applicable), off-engine cables, hydraulic lines, and updating the control software.
