Overview
In many cases, stator rewinds are a slow process that result in extended downtime that end up costing a plant a significant amount of money.
With the help of GE’s field service team, Sacahogen was able to complete the stator rewind in 17 days, allowing them to benefit from shorter down-time and reduced maintenance costs.
Outcomes
project completion time
decrease in expected upgrade time
We are very pleased to work with GE to help us successfully complete our generator stator rewind project so quickly, which allowed us to reduce the length of our maintenance outage and return the generator to service as quickly as possible.

GE’s Gas Power business completed Thailand’s first Fast Stator Rewind of Sahacogen Public Company Ltd.’s GT-1 Generator at its natural gas co-generation plant in the Chonburi province. The upgrade took half time designated for completion, a rare accomplishment for a stator rewind.
Fast Stator Rewind is a game changer that builds on GE’s heritage, standardization and global reach. The ONE Technology, ONE Process for any air-cooled Generator concept was developed to execute the life extension during a major inspection of the gas turbine. Typically, an upgrade of this kind would take a month to complete. However, with the help of GE’s field service team, Sahacogen Public Company Ltd. completed the project in 17 days.
With the Fast Stator Rewind customers can benefit from shorter down-time, reduced cost of maintenance with proven technology & process standards.
“With this project, we will enhance the long-term availability of our cogeneration plant and meet Thailand’s urgent energy supply needs,” said Mr. Thanawat Siwasoponpong, co-generation power plant division manager of Sahacogen (Chonburi) Public Company Ltd.
This accomplishment further strengthens GE’s core value of quality, creating a positive experience for our customers and improving the world’s best-running fleet regardless of the manufacturer.
