Overview

GE Vernova’s 9HA.02 gas turbines enable Dongguan Ningzhou power plant to produce 2.4 GW of energy, supporting China’s energy transition and decarbonization goals.

The challenge

As China strives to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, the shift from coal to efficient gas power has become essential. Guangdong Energy Group needed a reliable, low-emission power solution to meet local and national clean energy mandates.

The solution

GE Vernova provided three 9HA.02 gas turbines for the Dongguan Ningzhou power plant, one of China’s largest gas-powered facilities. This technology, capable of burning up to 50% hydrogen, supports significant reductions in carbon emissions and fuel consumption, meeting Guangdong’s energy needs efficiently.

"

GE Vernova has long been our company of choice when transitioning our power plants from coal to natural gas, and we trust that in the future GE Vernova technology will help us approach net-zero carbon emissions.
