Future-proof your B & E gas turbine fleet

Recently, PTTGC ordered AGP Advanced Gas Path technology from GE and installed in our 6B unit in Feb 2024. Heat rate improvement and power increment after installation of the AGP is beyond the expectation. This rejuvenation of heat rate and power seems to be like the new gas turbine performance but without replacing the entire machine, only changing the 9 major components in the turbine section.

We worked very closely with Gas Power from the beginning of the project, taking a very focused approach. As a result, the GE Vernova team was able to have all the necessary parts in just one week, which was an incredible accomplishment. And we couldn’t be happier with the upgraded gas turbine’s performance.

In an industry characterized by constant change and technological advances, an industrial chemical facility in Asia needed to find a way to improve production levels. 

To increase efficiency and output while reducing emissions, GE’s new 6B repowering technology will be utilized on three 6B units. The output increase of 25% is expected to help the customer accelerate the rate of chemical production and could lead to significant fuel savings.

GE Vernova proposed a 6B rotor total life management solution to enable the operators to make the most of cycle times for parts manufacturing, improve outage labor efficiencies and utilize a rotor concept that will reduce overall costs.

With a goal of providing reliable and competitive energy to Asia, one of our customers came to GE to perform rotor life extension services on 9 of its 9F gas turbine rotors. It required a $4 million investment in the GRSS (GE Repair Solutions Singapore), which enabled the service center to perform rotor life extensions on both 7F and 9F gas turbines—and the additional capacity has increased the center’s capability by at least 35%.

The project started as a partnership two years before the RLE work began at the GRSS, with the customer and GE working together to determine what additional inspection tooling and machines the center needed, investing in and installing the new equipment, and training the machine vendors.

Playing a vital role in developing construction projects across the Middle East for over 50 years, Saudi Cement knew they needed an upgrade to improve reliability and efficiency in their manufacturing process. The AGP upgrade of its three 6B gas turbines will allow Saudi Cement to become more self-sufficient in power production, achieve greater cost efficiencies by significantly saving fuel and enable the company to better serve the industry’s supply chain in alignment with the Saudi National Transformation Program’s goal to improve fuel utilization in electricity generation to 40% by 2020.
