GE Vernova to Boost India’s Renewable Energy Transmission Network

February 10, 2025
Khavda Phase V Part C project

GE Vernova has been selected by Sterlite Grid 32 Limited, a subsidiary of Sterlite Power, to supply critical technology for the Khavda Phase-IV Part C project. This project is designed to strengthen India’s renewable energy transmission infrastructure and enable the seamless integration of solar and wind power into the national grid.

As part of the collaboration, GE Vernova will provide 765 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), 765 kV power transformers, and shunt reactors, along with supervision for installation, testing, and commissioning. These advanced solutions will ensure reliable renewable power delivery and maintain voltage stability through reactive power compensation. The project is expected to be completed within two years, further accelerating India’s transition to a sustainable energy future.

Supporting India’s Energy Transition Goals

The Khavda Phase-IV Part C project aligns with India’s renewable energy ambitions, which include achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power generation capacity by 2030. By enabling efficient transmission of renewable energy, the project will help reduce dependency on fossil fuels and enhance grid stability as solar and wind generation increase.

“We are proud to contribute to strengthening India’s renewable power transmission network,” said Ruchir Mayank, Power Transmission Commercial Leader for India at GE Vernova. “This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting India’s energy transition and building a more sustainable energy ecosystem. We are also thankful to Sterlite Power in reaffirming their faith in our products and services.”
